Tacrolimus, a potent immunosuppressive medication, has revolutionized the field of organ transplantation by significantly improving graft survival rates and reducing the risk of rejection. As a calcineurin inhibitor, tacrolimus exerts its immunosuppressive effects by inhibiting the activation of T-lymphocytes, thereby preventing the immune system from mounting an attack against the transplanted organ.
